Batik is a traditional technique of dyeing fabric using a removable wax resist. Hot wax is applied to fabric using batik blocks, canting pens, brushes, or other tools. The fabric is then dyed, and once dry, the wax is removed in a boiling water bath to reveal the final pattern.

In this workshop, you will learn the full batik process, from applying hot wax with different tools to dyeing and colour setting. At the end of the session, you will take home your own personalised Batik Boutique product.

Recommended group size: 1 to 25 participants per session. Suitable for both adults and children.

Workshop duration depends on the product selected and typically ranges from 1 to 4 hours.

We will also be serving light refreshments, including coffee, tea, and some kuih muih to keep the session relaxed and enjoyable.

Some products are available for same-day pickup. Morning workshop slots can be collected on the same day, while evening slots will be ready on the next working day. Other items may require up to two weeks for sewing (indicated with an *). 

  • Rescheduling is allowed once only, with at least 48 hours' notice, subject to availability.
  • If you cannot reschedule, cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a credit note.
  • Credit notes are valid for 12 months and can be redeemed towards any Batik Boutique purchase.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the workshop and no-shows will result in forfeiture of the booking fee.
  • Bookings are non-refundable at all.
